HOLOCAUST
SURVIVOR DAY CENTER

Together with the city of Dimona, we are ensuring that Holocaust Survivors in southern Israel enjoy a high quality of life.

the Problem

There are around 150,000 Holocaust Survivors alive in Israel today. Sadly, 1 in 3 are living difficult, lonely lives. Israel’s Holocaust Survivors need our support, now more than ever to enjoy a meaningful and happy life, despite the horrors of their past.

our Solution

Meir Panim operates a Holocaust Survivor Day Center in the southern Israeli city of Dimona, where these elderly men and women can congregate each day, enjoy hot nutritious meals, participate in engaging programs and build a community.

MORE ABOUT THIS PROGRAM:

How we are making a difference

We have partnered with the municipality and community in the southern Israeli city of Dimona to create a safe space for Holocaust Survivors.

Meir Panim’s phenomenal, professional staff are on the scene each day to give these elderly citizens a brighter, better life.

In the summertime especially, the Center’s staff plan special outings to help the survivors beat the intense desert heat and enjoy a break from their normal routine. Activities can include tips to the local pool club, complete with water aerobic classes and time to relax, daytime movies or performances and dining experiences out of the Meir Panim complex.

The Survivors look forward to this change of pace every year and this is just another way that Meir Panim cares for the well-being of Israel’s Holocaust survivors. Of course, safety is our top priority and our participants are always accompanied by our staff and volunteers.

Meals

We serve our participants a warm breakfast and nutritious lunch every day to make sure their physical needs are met, while our trained staff look after their emotional wellbeing.

Mental Wellbeing

Our distinguished social workers run activities and events for our Holocaust Survivors, who may otherwise be alone, to nourish their minds and souls.

Community

The Dimona Day Center offers a warm and safe space for Holocaust Survivors to interact with our professional staff as well as their peers so they have emotional and social support. This helps create a community among a vulnerable population who otherwise might not have people to lean on for help.
